Plugs and Cords

When ordering an Electric Fan, please specify which 20A plug you would like!

VENTRY Electric Fans come with a 20 Amp plug, either locking L5-20P (default) or nonlocking 5-20P. The locking plug is the default, but we try to always have the customer specify.

Other plugs may be available upon request, just ask.

Any extension cord you choose to use with VENTRY Electric Fans must have an ampacity of 20 amps or greater. You can run 12 gauge up to 250 feet long. Anything longer than 250 feet must be 10 gauge.

Power Supply

Make sure your power supply is sufficient to power an e-fan. VENTRY Electric 1.5 hp Fans are programmed not to exceed more than 20 amps, even at start-up; they have no initial spike in power draw. They are also programmed to use all 20 amps (2400W) when set at the highest setting so as to achieve maximum air volume (CFM). When necessary, the variable speed dial may simply be reduced to accommodate a lower power supply; of course, this results in lower air volume.

Insufficient Power Supply

Please note that many factors affect power supply, including other equipment drawing power from the same circuit and the gauge and length of cord into which the fan may be plugged. The electric fan’s digital display will flash a blinking red line to warn you if its power supply is insufficient for the draw. Simply turn down the fan’s variable speed in this case, decreasing the power draw. Note that air volume will decrease accordingly.

Pre-2004 GFCI Circuits

Sensitivity issues may arise with GFCI protected circuit breakers manufactured prior to 2004. If you have trouble running equipment on GFCI circuits that is supposed to be GFCI-compatible, you may need to upgrade the circuit breaker. For details or to discuss, please call James, our engineer: 888-257-8967 or business-to-business 208-773-1194.

Please note that Ventry Solutions does not offer an explosion proof electric fan at this time. If you feel this would be worth developing in the future, please contact James at (888) 257-8967.
