Do I need pneumatic or solid rubber wheels on my fan?

Pneumatic wheels are better than solid rubber for rough terrain. There are some trade-offs between pneumatic and solid rubber though, including space, cost, and weight. We offer pneumatic wheels on the 24-inch fans and include them standard on our 6 hp, 6.5 hp, and propane powered models. We used to offer them on the 20-inch models but they screw up the dimensions and the 20-inch fans are light enough that we found firefighters just carry them instead of rolling them when conditions warrant. (I carry the fan for initial attack and roll it when it is clean-up time.)

Further note: The important thing with PPV Fans is to have wheels, any kind of wheels, so that you can transport the fan with one hand and carry tools in the other. Either wheel type will suffice for this purpose so you do not have to use two hands or two people to lift and carry.

Pneumatic wheels are BIG. And once you order a fan with pneumatics, they can not be switched out with solid rubber. You MUST carefully measure your compartment and make sure the fan fits before ordering pneumatics. Pneumatic wheels add 5 inches to the width of the fan, 2 inches to the depth, and 2 inches to the height. See specifications for complete measurements.
